Water, water everywhere

Ok, so it’s not a person, it’s a planet. Every time I have to open a plastic or glass bottle of water in Sicily my soul makes a sad face.🙁

There is nothing wrong with the water here. Agreed, it doesn’t taste good. It is full of minerals. I will find out the pH and other such things before I go on a total rant. Most everyone on this island drinks bottled water. I have looked for one of those water filters that you can put in your refrigerator and fill it with tap water. I have been told they are too expensive. They are $20.

You can get just about anything for yourself, your kitchen, and your soul here in Sicily. What you can’t get is a simple water filter so you can stop mass producing empty glass and plastic water bottles.

On a positive note, I have to compost my food waste – or organics as they are called here. Good idea! There is a costly monetary fine for putting your organic waste into the general trash. You must also put aside all those plastic water bottles and all other plastic crap in a separate container. What happens to them? I have no idea. Glass and paper go together. Why? I have no idea. Where does it go? Again, I have no idea. What I do know is this was the most important thing my landlady wanted me to understand.

I have quite a heavy dose of having no idea right now.

I don’t like adding to the trash heap. I love having no idea what the policy decisions are that led to the decisions.

I am digging not knowing!

Ciao, Buena sera,

Cher
