Uncharted waters

I am the least proficient beginner student in a class full of other beginner students. I feel like I know less Italian now that I did when I got here. I was told that the unknowing and confusion is to be expected. Still I am used to being closer at the top of my class, not firmly and squarely in the bottom. And as if with knowing, I have always been able to sit down and figure something out. Guess what, I don’t even know where to begin.

Yup! I am getting exactly what I signed up for. It’s different than I thought it would be. I love Taormina, but it is crowded every day with tourists. I am going to be seeking somewhere more serene this weekend. Maybe I will give Fiumefreddo another try but this time I will look at the train schedule.

Maybe that would have been a good idea pre Sicily – to look a little bit at the language of Italian. Well, Cher let’s see if you can pull this one off.

Being humbled is a good thing?
