What a difference a day can make. Today my lessons were a bit more comprehensible. All of us in our class have moments of brain mush. We also laugh, grimace and plan where to meet for dinner. I can’t eat dinner at 9 o’clock at night and still function the next day – it’s not the wine, it’s the food? Either way, I had a late dinner two nights ago and I was far from my best yesterday. So I only have those late night dinners two or three times a week.
Tomorrow is opening night at a local restaurant I stumbled upon on my first day in Taormina. I got three seats at the Chef’s table for myself and two of my new friends. The name of the restaurant is Ethica – all local and responsibly sourced food, mostly vegetables. Count me in!
The fresh produce is as you would expect. No plastic wrapping. Just a crate with whatever was picked within the past few days. There are also four small markets less than a block’s distance from my little apartment. When I say small, picture 1/3 of the size of a convenience store in the U.S. That is convenient.
