Something is going on here

New York Times crossword puzzles are part of my daily routine from Thursday to Sunday – Monday and Tuesday are too easy. Having a little time today before dinner at Ethica, I decided to work on Thursday’s puzzle. My brain kept wanting to think about the answers in Italian.

This is the beauty of learning a language by immersing oneself in the language and culture – it starts to seep into your pores. And it’s exhausting! I haven’t used my brain this intensely in many, many years. I am sharpening and honing a different part of my brain than when I sit at home in Norfolk, Virginia and solve Wordle and crossword puzzles and maybe a Sudoku now and again.

Italian culture is best described for me by the word mangia – abondanza!
