Siri has either never been to Sicily, or when she was here she didn’t have to navigate on her own. She has told me twice that the train station is a 20 minute walk up hill. The tracks hug the coastline and the station is more than two miles away, downhill and not at all safe for pedestrians.
The roads here are narrow and not suited to parked cars, buses, or taxis as well as pedestrians. Taormina is mostly closed to car traffic – it has to be. There would be no room for cars inside the gates of Taormina. That is not the case for the beach towns downhill. Lots of traffic and people. I am here at the end of peak season – I can only imagine what it was like in August! Yikes.
Poor Siri, she has missed so much by never going anywhere and still having an opinion on everything. Thankfully, she is usually accurate in placing the blue dot that is me in the general area of where I am. Still, I trust her less and less everyday.
