Ragusa

When I arrived in Ragusa three days ago, I couldn’t imagine what I would do in this little town during my stay. It was a “what the hell was I thinking moment.”

Tonight I found myself in the private home and museum of Maestro Salvatore Appiano. He is ancient, quite famous and he calls Ragusa his home. How did a world class pianist manage to get the last name of Appiano?

The Maestro has played for Marie Callas in the opera house in Milan. Tonight he played for me and a small group of British people. It doesn’t matter how I found myself included in this group.

It’s Sicily.

Tomorrow I am off to Siracusa and an apartment with a washing machine!
