Data driven

Today, I saw my cardiologist. When he accused me of being data driven, I thought “I am not. I am heart driven.” Then I looked at the pile of records I brought for him and realized, I am data driven.

As an innovative primary preventive cardiologist he is all about the data. He wants to see pictures of the arteries in my heart, the level of oxygen in my blood when I sleep and an emailed copy of my EKG every month. And all of my labs and vital statistics are well within normal limits. Still, he wants my data.

“I see seniors all the time who look fine and then we realize they are in A fib. I want my patients to be dancing in their 90s.” I think, “I am not a senior!” Meanwhile my Medicare card is within reach.

I am not sure I want to live into my 90’s, but if I am still here I know I want to be able to dance.
