Today I learned that Spain did not participate in World War II. They had just survived a civil war and didn’t have the resources for more war. That concept is a bit much for me to grasp.

Many Jewish people were saved by making it safely to Spain. They could more easily escape once they were outside occupied territories.

Today, I learned that Hitler bought Franco a Rolls Royce to thank him for not joining the war. The monarchy of Spain still has that car.

I suppose I should have paid more attention in history class.
